And now, the explanation of said rules:

In any large gathering of people, particularly Heathens, it is extremely easy to derail, fly off the handle, get butthurt, and in general embarrass your grandma with your behavior. In order to circumvent this, we have established a few rules.

1. Don’t be an asshole. This is the internet, and that makes it easy to be overly aggressive or mean in confrontation, which is unnecessary. Name calling, insults, and irrelevant sniping are not allowed. This DOES NOT mean that people are not allowed to challenge you on statements. We are under no obligation to give worth to your words simply because you want us to. A challenge to your ideas is not a challenge to you. Ideas cannot be bullied, and people are allowed to disagree or disprove your ideas. However, all challenges should be done in a civil manner, and should not include personal attacks.

2. Be Intelligent. If you are going to make a statement, make sure that it is one worth reading. All claims of truth should be backed up with evidence. All UPG should be clearly marked as UPG, with the understanding that people are not required to accept your beliefs simply because they are your beliefs. Academia trumps the unverifiable in a neutral conversation, and not everyone is going to care about your personal relationship with the gods.

3. No Hate Speech. You can check your racism, homophobia, gender hate, and bashing of other religions at the door, or we’ll throw it out ourselves and you along with it. Hate is not welcome.

4. Loki Limitations. While we understand that some of you revere it, Loki is not a topic that ends well due to the diametric opposition of belief where it is concerned. Due to this, discussions of Loki are allowed contextually, with logic based questions and counters. Please note that your dreams, omens, portents, or mysterious strangers do not count as logic based.

5. This is a place for learning and conversation among Heathens. It is not a hall. The admins are not your hosts, and you are not guests. We do not hold Frith with you. We do not hold Grith with you.

6. We are not your kin, so please avoid calling us brother/sister/cousin. Kinship is very meaningful in Heathenry.

7. In an effort to control the quality and content please contact an admin before uploading any files to the group or making any announcements.

8. Pictures and links posted with no further discussion are likely to be deleted without warning.

9: Own your words. Deletion disrupts threads.

If you don’t know something, ask, and please remember that Heathenry has a religious language, and words may not mean what you think they do.

10. Don’t block admins. If you do, you will be removed from the group. Be aware, we can still see your posts if you block us.
